Since it was founded in 1980, the Month of Photography has contributed a great deal to making Paris one of the great capitals of photography. It takes place in November, every two years with the involvement of Parisian cultural institutions and galleries.
Every Month of Photography event, devoted to a specific theme, is therefore an opportunity to present between 70 and 80 exhibitions and organize screenings, meetings and debates. This year the festival is being organized around the theme of "European Photography, between tradition and transformation".
The theme does not so much aim to provide answers to all these questions as undertake an assessment, open perspectives and stimulate reflection.
From the Atlantic to the Urals, from Riga to Istanbul, hundreds of photographers are expressing themselves and exhibiting. The Month of Photography, through museums, cultural centers and galleries, is hosting them and attempting, in the hustle and bustle of the world, to reflect their social, cultural and artistic testimony.
