1 - Competition rules "Autour des 20 ans" (from may to October 2008)

  • Contestants
    The competition « Autour des 20 ans » is open to all students registered at ACCORD at the time of the competition and willing to participate. Only one participation per student per competition.

  • The Competition step by step
    The competition will take place once a month, from May till October 2008.
    The participants will be given a theme each month and competitors must either write a text in French or produce a painting/drawing or other creative piece relating to the theme.
    The text must be written in French, one page maximum, and must contain the participant’s name, e-mail address and postal address.

  • Designation of the winners
    ACCORD School will offer 5 prizes per competition.
    For each competition, a jury of 4 will choose and announce the results to the students on Fridays at 1pm in their classes. Winners will be contacted personally by mail.
  • Prizes
    The prizes are Virgin Mégastore Vouchers.

    From 5th to 2nd place: 25 euro per prize
    1st prize: 50 euro

    The vouchers will be given at school on Fridays.
    In the event of absence, the gift cards will be sent directly to the winners.


    2 - The photo competition (from June 2nd to October 31st 2008)

  • How to enter?
    The competition is open from the 2nd of June 2008 to the 31st of October 2008, midnight.
    Entrants should submit their best photo(s) addressing the competition’s topic to the following email address: concours@accord-langues.com , accompanied by their surname, first name, email and postal addresses.
    Each entrant can submit up to a maximum of 5 photos between the 2nd of June and the 31st of October 2008. At the end of this period, i.e. from the 1st of November 2008, the Judging Panel will select 3 of the best pictures entered in the competition. Entrants will be given the results by email or post. The winners will receive one of the prizes described below.

Each entrant certifies that he/she is the person who has taken the picture(s) sent.

  • Competition Rules
    The photo competition is open to anybody attending a course at the Accord School during the time of the competition, from the 2nd of June to the 31st of October 2008.
    Entry is strictly restricted to one person only, made in the same name, from the same address. It is forbidden to enter on behalf of other people.
    By entering this competition, entrants are deemed to have accepted the Competition Rules and to have agreed to be bound by them. The decision made by the Organisers and Judging Panel is final and no correspondence will be entered into.
    The photo(s) entered must be submitted by email.
    The photo(s) must be supplied in a JPEG and/or PNG format file and relate to the topic of the competition. To be eligible, pictures must not feature any recognisable person or people except if they are ACCORD’s students or staff members.
    The deadline for receiving entries is midnight, 31st of October 2008. Only dates and times of receipt of entry will be recognised.
  • Entry details
    Entrants can submit up to five (5) pictures to the Organisers.
    Entry to the competition entails the transfer of proprietary rights, copyright, and the right to use and modify. It is also understood that the pictures submitted are originals, free from any right.
    Any entries violating these terms will be excluded.
    Computers and access to an Internet connection needed to submit the photos are available to entrants at the ACCORD school. No Internet connection fee can be charged to the Organisers.
  • Prizes
    The Organisers guarantee the prizes awarded are:
    • 1st Prize:
    1 stay in Paris to include 1 week Intensive Course "A" (26 lessons) at the ACCORD School, accommodation with a host family in a single room including breakfast, plus 3 cultural activities.
    Value: €605
    • 2nd Prize:
    1 stay in Paris to include 2 weeks Intensive Course "A" (26 lessons) at the ACCORD School, plus 3 cultural activities.
    Value: €540
    • 3rd Prize:
    1 stay in Paris to include 1 week Intensive Course "A" (26 lessons) at the ACCORD School, plus 1 cultural activity.
    Value: €305
  • Selection of Winners and Prize Giving
    At the end of the competition, the Judging Panel will select the best 3 photos relating to the theme chosen by the school, using the following criteria:
    • A good interpretation of the theme;
    • Originality of the work;
    • Quality.
    The Judging Panel will announce the results on the 14th November 2008.
    Winners will be notified by email or post.
    The prizes cannot be reimbursed or exchanged for cash. These prizes are non transferable.
  • Computer use & Connection
    The Organisers decline any responsibility, should there be any misuse or incident linked to the use of a computer, access to the Internet, misuse or misworking of the servers, phone lines or any other technical connection .
  • Claims & Liabilities
    By entering this competition, entrants are deemed to have accepted the Competition Rules and to have agreed to be bound by them all.
    Any inaccurate, false or fraudulous declaration by the entrant will mean his or her exclusion from the competition.
    Any claims must be sent by post, recorded delivery with acknowledgment of receipt to the following address:
    FORUM ACCORD, 14 boulevard Poissonnière, 75009 Paris.
    Any liability related to the competition and its rules will be resolved by the Organisers. Their decision will be final and no correspondence will be entered into.
    The Organisers will not in any way be liable if a case of force majeure or any other event beyond the Organisers’ control means that the present competition has to be cancelled, shortened or the conditions be altered.
    The competition will be cancelled or suspended if any entry frauds are detected. In this case, ineligible entrants will not be awarded any prizes and they could be pursued in a Court of Law
  • Rights to the photos
    The Organisers reserve the right to reproduce, exhibit and to license the reproduction and the exhibition of some or all, in whole or part, in all media (now known or hereafter created) of entries. No reproduction fees will be payable to entrants.
    There is no time limit on this reproduction right.
    The entrant declares that: he has taken the photograph, has not transferred any reproduction rights to a third party, will not make any claims against the Organisers for proprietary rights.
    Entrants will see their names or pseudonyms appear on each of the pictures sent.
    Entrants will be able to stop the reproduction of their photo(s) by sending a letter by post, recorded delivery with acknowledgment receipt to:
    FORUM ACCORD, 14 boulevard Poissonnière, 75009 Paris.
    The content of the picture(s) will not be obscene, violent, dangerous, racist, defamatory, offensive, harmful to minors or make the apology of crimes against humanity.
  • Guarantees
    Entrants will be fully responsible for the content of the pictures submitted to ACCORD (buildings, individuals, etc.).
    In any case, entrants will agree to submit pictures respecting third party intellectual property and its legislation.
    Entrants guarantee the Organisers against any legal action which could be started because of the pictures they have made.
    If the pictures feature recognisable people, designs, buildings, cars, etc., entrants guarantee they have obtained permission to enter the pictures in the competition.
  • Proof
    It is agreed between the parties that, except for obvious mistakes, the information from the Organisers’ information system is absolute proof in any claims relating to connection and processing the information referring to the competition.
  • Applicable Law
    Entrants are subject to French Law relating to games and competition. Claims, which cannot be resolved amicably, will be taken to a French Court of Law.


3 - The summer challenge : Video contest (from June 30th to July 25th 2008)

  • How to enter?
    The competition is open from the 30th of June 2008 to the 25th of July 2008.
    Entrants should create and submit one video addressing the competition’s topic to the Organisers.
    At the end of this contest, the Judging Panel will select 3 of the best videos entered in the competition. The winners will be given the results by email or post, and will receive one of the prizes described below.
  • Competition Rules
    The photo competition is open to anybody attending a course at the Accord School during the time of the competition, from the 30th of June 2008 to the 25th of July 2008.

    - The video must be supplied in a AVI, QuickTime, Windows Media ot MPEG format file and relate to the topic of the competition.
    - Maximum length of the video : 1 minute 30 seconds.
    The video entered must be submitted by email at the following address : concours@accord-langues.com or by CD or DVD to the organisers.
    The deadline for receiving entries is 5 p.m., 25th of July 2008. Only dates and times of receipt of entry will be recognised.
  • Entry details
    Entrants will submit up only 1 video to the Organisers.
    Computers and access to an Internet connection needed to submit the photos are available to entrants at the ACCORD school. No Internet connection fee can be charged to the Organisers.
  • Prizes
    The Organisers guarantee the prizes awarded are:
    1st prize
    2 week intensive French course choice between 'A', 'B' or 'C' (26, 30 or 34 lessons/week)
    + accommodation with host family (bed & breakfast)
    Value : from 1070 € (course 'A') to 1140 € (coure 'C')
    2nd prize:
    1 week intensive French course choice between 'A', 'B' or 'C' (26, 30 or 34 lessons/week)
    + accommodation with host family (bed & breakfast)
    Value : from 575 € (course 'A') to 620 € (course 'C')
    3rd prize :
    2 week intensive French course choice between 'A', 'B' or 'C' (26, 30 or 34 lessons/week)
    Value : from 510 € (course 'A') to 580 € (course 'C')
  • Selection of Winners and Prize Giving

    By submitting the video, the entrant is promising that he owns all rights to all material in his video, including the music, sounds, images, and rights to include all persons, places or organizations included or depicted.


    The Organisers reserve the right to reproduce, exhibit and to license the reproduction and the exhibition of some or all, in whole or part, in all media (now known or hereafter created) of entries. No reproduction fees will be payable to entrants.

4 - The competitions for Juniors (from June 29th to August 23rd 2008)

  • Contestants

    The summer competitions for Juniors are open to all students registered in a Junior program at ACCORD, between June 29th and August 23rd 2008. Only one participation per student per competition.

  • The Competition step by step

    The competitions will take place from the 29th of June until the 23rd of August 2008.
    The participants will be given a theme every 2 weeks and competitors must either write a text in French or produce a painting/drawing, a photo or other creative piece relating to the theme.

    French text and other creative piece must be given to the coordinator of students' courses.
    Photographs must be sent by Email to : concours@accord-langues.com .
    All productions must be transmitted before 12:00 p.m. on the closing date (see the table below).

    The production must contain the participant’s name, e-mail address and postal address.
