The Test du connaissance du Français is recognized
and awarded by the French Ministry of National Education and is
a reliable assessment of a candidate's knowledge of French.

can enroll?
TCF is designed for any non-native speaker of French
and does not require any specific qualification or preparation.
What
does the exam involve?

compulsory tests (90 minutes)
Reading comprehension
(45 minutes)
Listening comprehension
(25 minutes)
Use of grammatical structures (20 minutes)
Total length: 90 minutes

Compulsory
tests:
There are a total of 80 questions: 30 questions for reading comprehension,
30 questions for listening comprehension and 20 for use of grammatical
structures.
In each part of the test, the questions are the same for all candidates
and increase in difficulty.
Multiple-choice questions (generally 4 answers to choose from).
Only one correct answer.
Optional
tests:
Candidates may also choose to take the following tests:
Writing: This part consists of 6 exercises, which
increase in level of difficulty (1. write a simple and personal
message; 6. write a summary of a text or a selection of texts);
candidates must do all exercises.
Speaking: This part consists of an interview.
The interview is composed of six questions, which range from easy
to difficult. (i.e. question 1.talk about your home, family and
friends; question 6. give a detailed and structured oral presentation
of complex subjects)
